Blogs (or weblogs) are in the news every day. They're one of the hottest means of communication on the Internet today. But it takes real commitment of time and thought to maintain a blog, and even more to get anyone to read it. Technorati is tracking more than 57 million blogs, of which it believes around 55% are "active" and updated at least every three months. And technology experts believe that, at this point, 200 million people have already stopped updating their blogs because they've moved onto other things or have become bored. With that in mind, blogging can be a great way to promote your business. It doesn't require that people sign up for your email list. However, it's helpful if you provide an RSS feed they can subscribe to. Then your every post is delivered directly to their desktop. Plus, with blogging, you don't have to come up with all your own content or even be an outstanding writer, but it does help if you can articulate opinions now and then. Some of the best bloggers (see Seth Godin's Blog) frequently comment on posts by other people, and use brief conversational language.
